Wild West Web 8. October 2008, 13.30-18.30 CET, Musical Instrument Museum, Brussels

Constant changes and imminent developments make the online content world look like the new Wild West, a place where everything is possible and exciting.

How are music and other forms of performing art affected by the progress, and legal ambiguity on the web?

The booming demand for available, secure, affordable and creative content; technology development and convergence; the emergence of new revolutionary business models; or the fight against piracy and illegal downloading are leading to the development of new roles for the online creative industry.

Both national initiatives and the EU competition authority are addressing these issues and suggesting new rules and roles for the creative online pioneers. But is there room for a "sheriff" on the Internet and who should that be? What are these new roles that are taking shape for the online industry?

These are the topics that were debated in depth at the Conference.
